If you didn’t make it to the game last week, well- you didn’t miss much. The offensive woes continued for the Cantaloupe as they got trounced by This Team, 76-48. Despite the poor performance, fans were treated to a few nice moments, the biggest perhaps being a game ending buzzer beater layup that saw Pendry notch his first points of the season. Though it had no bearing on the game whatsoever and most of the players had already started walking off the court, the moment was still priceless as Pendry embraced the fans, celebrating as the last member of the Cantaloupe without points sank his first bucket of the Winter. Fans also got to see the Welsh Bro’s back in action for the first time this season as Nick made his Winter debut. While the two did lead the offense with 14 points a piece, Nick showed some clear signs of rust, shooting just 5/18 from the floor. Though the game stayed close for a bit in the first half, the Cantaloupes lack of offense was too much to overcome. Tim and Torney were the only other players who managed more than a couple of points, Tim finishing with 9 points and 5 rebounds, Torney with 6 points and 7 rebounds. If the loss wasn’t gutting enough, news also broke earlier this week that Jordan was officially ruled out with no timetable for a return still dealing with the ankle injury he suffered in week 2. With Jordan on IR, management decided to restructure Tim’s 10-day contract into a full time offer hoping he can help bring a spark back to the offense. The second half of the season kicks off tonight as the 10th seeded Cantaloupe will look to take on the 0-4 Bleventy Blixers. Tip-off set for 9pm, be sure to get your popcorn ready as the Cantaloupe look to get back in the win column and gain some steam in what is currently a very tight playoff race.
