Clamps Get Clamped in Season Opener!

The Fighting Cantaloupe cruised to a week one win taking down Camp Clamp 70-55 in a game that was never really in doubt. Jumping out to an early 20-5 lead and never looking back, this one was well in hand from the early stages. The statisticians took an early holiday last week so while we don’t have exact numbers, we do have some takeaways for you.

Let’s start with the new guys Haad and Ryan, who both had promising debuts. After shaking off some early rust, Haad looked comfortable facilitating the offense, while Ryan immediately made his presence known in the paint. A promising sight for fans as both will be asked to take on key roles this year after the offseason losses of Ryan Deal, Lou, and Kev. We caught up with coach O’Neill over the weekend though who was quick to let us know he doesn’t want anybody getting ahead of themselves after one win.

Noting that while it was certainly a good start, and early wins always being nice, O'Neill went on to emphasize “We beat a team that we should never lose to.” He would also add that the full roster is still yet to hit the floor together so he is looking forward to seeing how last week's chemistry translates to tonight’s game against the High Hill Alumni who come into this one off of a 20-point week one win of their own.

Rob Cox remains unavailable as he and the team are now eyeing a week 3 debut, but you can catch the rest of the Cantaloupe back in action tonight @ 9:10 pm as they look to start a Summer streak.
